For any organisation, the most important investment is the health and wellbeing of its staff. This presentation sets the national context for workplace wellbeing and introduces the benefits of a healthy, happy workforce for employees and employers. Examples of best practice in workplace health will be discussed, including evidence from the public and private sector, both in the UK and internationally. There will be a particular focus on the NHS as one of the world’s biggest employers and the concept of NHS staff as role models for health. A large-scale, award-winning NHS health and wellbeing programme will be showcased, together with research and evaluation that has influenced service delivery and sustainability.
