Lincoln Historian Receives Prestigious National Award

Natural History MedalLincoln’s Dr Anna Marie Roos has been honoured by The Society for the History of Natural History which presented her with The John Thackray Medal last week.

Dr Roos, a Reader in Lincoln’s School and History & Heritage, received the award for her research into the 17th century naturalist Dr Martin Lister, a key figure in the early Royal Society and a contemporary of Sir Isaac Newton.

The medal was presented to Anna Marie on Thursday 14th June at the Society’s AGM.

Instituted in 2000 to commemorate the life and work of John Thackray, Past President of the Society, the medal is awarded for a significant achievement in the preceding three years in the history of those areas of interest to the Society – the biological and earth sciences in the broadest sense.
