The Lincoln Institute for Health is offering workshops aimed at those considering developing a health related systematic review to support a research proposal, for publication in a peer reviewed journal, as a chapter in a thesis or as a guide for best practice.

The programme aims to provide a comprehensive overview on how to conduct a systematic review of quantitative and qualitative data in your chosen area. LIH offer on going practical support to guide you through the process from review question development to publication. This will be done through a series of short interactive activities and lectures (spread over 3 half days) topics include;

• Resources required to conduct a systematic review
• Formulation of an answerable research question
• Importance of, and adherence to ‘the protocol’ (including getting it published)
• Search strategies and comprehensive literature searching
• Identification, and recording of included and excluded research
• Data extraction tools
• Understanding the role of critical appraisal and risk of bias
• Synthesising the evidence
• Interpretation of study results to formulate evidence-based conclusions and recommendations
• Effective communication of findings for different target audiences
• Criteria for judging the quality of systematic reviews

The workshops will take place on September 10th, October 15th and November 12th in Bridge House.
