Award-winning comedian, author and actor Robert Webb will give a headline talk at the University of Lincoln’s two-week arts showcase.

Famous for the hugely successful Peep Show on Channel 4 and That Mitchell and Webb look, he will share some of the lessons he has learned from a glittering career and explore themes such as resilience, versatility and personal qualities for success.

Webb joins the The Festival of Creativity, now in its third year, after receiving an honorary doctorate from the university in 2018.

The festival brings together 20 final degree shows across the College of Arts, including 2D and 3D design, digital and traditional media, photo, film, music, fashion and performances. It is open to the public and designed to inspire, provoke and challenge in equal measure, while encouraging people to explore the campus.

This year’s event is sponsored by Adobe and in addition to the degree shows will feature 19 talks and numerous workshops and debates to encourage cross-discipline collaboration.

Gyles Lingwood, College of Arts Director of Education and Festival Director, said: “This year’s festival also includes our colleagues from the College of Science, College of Social Science and the Lincoln International Business School to demonstrate how creativity isn’t just restricted to the arts and how it can be used to drive business, create innovative solutions and even inspire ground-breaking research.”

Other highlights in this year’s showcase include a rooftop concert, ‘Reel Women’ – the screening of a cinematic masterpiece with live musical accompaniment, and ‘Creativity… Reimagined!’ – a one day workshop for local businesses to explore and develop techniques in innovative thinking. It will also host the finals of the Lincolnshire Young Designer of the Year

Professor Matthew Cragoe, Pro Vice Chancellor of the College of Arts, said: “This is the festival’s biggest and most exciting schedule yet.

“The Festival allows us to celebrate the success of our students and invite the public to see the fantastic talent on show here at the University of Lincoln, as well as join in on a wide range of workshops and events designed to inspire creativity in schools businesses and the personal lives of visitors off all interests and ages.

The Festival of Creativity is expected to attract more than 2,000 visitors and runs from 28th May to 7th June. All the events and the online showcase can be viewed on the website here: https://lincolnfestivalofcreativity.co.uk
